The Town of Barnstable includes seven villages within its boundaries. Each village has unique and significant cultural and historical qualities. Centerville, located on the south side, is primarily residential, includes the Christian Camp Meeting Association and has a beautiful beach (Craigville Beach). Osterville is located on the south side, is primarily residential and includes many beautiful inlets and harbors for fishing and boating. Hyannis is the town's central business/commercial district which includes town offices and several shopping malls. Hyannis is also a fishing village and its harbor provides steamship access to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Islands. Beyond Hyannis towards Nantucket Sound is the quaint village of Hyannis Port. Marstons Mills is mostly residential, located between South Sandwich and then just beyond Route 28. Cotuit is a village located on a peninsula on the south side and has several small beaches and homes with docks for convenient commuting to "The Vineyard". West Barnstable is located on the north side, is primarily residential and sparsely populated. Sandy Neck beach is a 7 mile long beach that fronts Cape Cod Bay in West Barnstable. The Village of Barnstable is located on the north side which houses the County Complex and has a working harbor, where you can also take whale watching excursions, and small beaches. Where is Barnstable MA located? - Eastern Massachusetts, located on the "bicep" of the Cape Cod arm. Bordered by Cape Cod Bay on the north, Nantucket Sound on the south, Sandwich and Mashpee on the west, and Yarmouth on the east.
